Narragansett, the New England capital of long board surfing, may be known for its chill vibe, but sometimes there’s nothing better than ending a day with dinner, drinks, and some live music. We canvased our extended neighborhood and found that the surrounding towns have the live music scene covered. Kick things off with a drink and dramatic ocean views at The Break’s rooftop lounge, and then head out to catch some tunes.

Narragansett Cafe

25 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown

This comfortable small town tavern has been serving up comfort food and live music to townies and tourists alike for over 25 years. They’ve collected numerous accolades along the way, among them Best Place for Live Music, Best Neighborhood Bar, and Best Blues Hangout, and a visit anytime between Thursday and Sunday confirms why. From the Thursday Summer Music Series (jazz, swing, acoustic styles) to Swizzle Sundays (a blues & bloodies brunch), there’s something for everyone at ‘Gannys.

TwoTen Oyster Bar and Grille

210 Salt Pond Road, Wakefield

Don’t be fooled by the laid back atmosphere, this classy waterfront restaurant and bar is more than meets the eye. Housing three venues in one – one inside, two outside – TwoTen hosts local artists every Friday and Saturday night from 7:00-11:00pm and karaoke on Mondays at 9:00pm. Grab a table and enjoy some classic New England seafood while listening to live music with some of the best views in South County, RI as the backdrop.

Ocean Mist

Matunuck Beach, Wakefield

You can’t get much closer to the beach than Ocean Mist, as it perches just above the seawall on Matunuck Beach. Esquire magazine once noted, “the outdoor deck is so close to the sea that an offshore breeze can knock the head off your beer and send it swirling into the Atlantic.” This dive beach bar is a go to spot for local flavor and live music. Beach goers flock there on Fridays to hear Rhode Island favorites like BADFISH, Santamamba, Steve Smith, and the Nations.

The Towers

35 Ocean Road, Narragansett
