Southern Rhode Island is known for luring artists of all kinds with its picturesque landscapes, coastline and distinct sense of place. And one of the greatest ways to experience all of the resident creativity is through the summer season’s many arts and crafts festivals — all held a short drive from our Narragansett hotel.

That said, there are craft fairs, and there are fine arts festivals.

Here at The Break, we’re proud that our town is host to one of the best festivals of the year—the Narragansett Fine Art Festival, taking place this month, June 28 & 29.

What makes this exceptional annual event so unique is that it is specifically devoted to “non-functional” fine art. That means you won’t find yourself lost in a sea of potpourri pillows and beaded earrings—instead, you’ll be admiring an exclusive selection of oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors and pastels, drawings, graphics, sculpture, and other 3-dimensional media.

With more than 100 fine artists participating, the experience is more like being an open air gallery opening—offering plenty of opportunities to talk with artists in person about their work.

And, there’s food! You’ll get to choose from a variety of invited food vendors, and be able to enjoy your lunch while reclining under one of several shade tents provided for festival goers.

As if more encouragement were needed, the best part about this festival is that it’s a fundraiser sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wakefield. All net proceeds will go to support the club’s scholarship funds for multiple high schools in the area. Talk about a triple bottom line—we love supporting the arts, the local community, and this event’s educational mission.

So whether you’re a collector, admirer, or a budding artist yourself, this is one New England fine arts event you don’t want to miss!
